Gilbert O? Sullivan - Back To Front
Prominent singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan surprised many when his second album Back To Front was released in 1972 as it was fundamental in establishing a reputation as a major artist and remains his only release to have reached number one. With a focus on melodies and down to earth lyrics – and the occasional tongue-in-cheek moment (like the revelatory babies gurgle on Clair) – the record has a charm all of its own. Stand out tracks include Out Of The Question The Golden Rule and What Could Be Nicer. This re-release also includes the bonus tracks Alone Again Save It and Ooh Wakka Do Wakka Day. (Adam Bibby)

Band Of Skulls - Sweet Sour
Sweet Sour is the eagerly anticipated second studio album by the English alternative rock group Band Of Skulls. This record is the follow up to their debut studio album Baby Darling Doll Face Honey which was released in 2009. The album is a storming stomping production carried predominantly by heavy guitar riffs and chord progressions accentuated with reverb and distortion to add massive effect and power. This is combined with intricate and thunderously rolling bass lines as well as choicely placed drum beat breakdowns. Featured on this album is the lead single The Devil Takes Care Of His Own which rises up from a slow building and minimalistic introduction in to an eruption of energetic rock melodies. The vocals of singers Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson blend together perfectly the harmonies both contrasting and complimenting each other brilliantly to properly carry their lyrics through. Sweet Sour is yet another musical triumph for Band Of Skulls and is another incredible addition to their steadily growing discography. Superb. (Cat Emerson)

The Cranberries - Roses (2 Cd)
Roses is the heavily anticipated double disc sixth studio album by the iconic Irish rock band The Cranberries. This record is the follow up to their fifth studio album Wake Up And Smell The Coffee which was released in 2001. This album is their first studio release in over a decade and follows their six year hiatus and reunion. The first disc is the album itself which showcases The Cranberries' musical talent at its best. Beautiful and strong guitar melodies overlap and harmonise with impressive technical drums and brilliant bass lines. These well instrumentalised tunes blend in perfectly with lead singer Dolores O'Riordan's distinctive and somehow haunting vocals emphasising the well written lyrics. Featured on the album is the lead single Show Me The Way a song that quietly builds in to a storming chorus with O'Riordan's singing sounding almost ethereal across the melodic backdrop of heavy guitar. Also featured on the album is the single Tomorrow an upbeat catchy tune with plenty of overlayered guitar with uptempo chord progressions and riffs. This album also includes a second disc a DVD which captures The Cranberries performing a full live set in Madrid in 2010. Some of their most well known and popular songs are featured on this disc such as their legendary chart smashing hit Zombie as well as Linger and many more. Despite making fans wait over a decade for this record Roses proves that it was more than worth the wait showing that The Cranberries have only gotten better with age. (Cat Emerson)
